RECOMMENDATIONS
I love to dine out and have tried most if not all the restaurants in Reykjavik. What I like is authenticity and originality combined with the purest ingredients. On this site I will recommend 7 restaurants as for me they stand out of the selection that Reykjavik has to offer today. All these places are a little bit of the beaten track and not to be missed in my opinion.
Brikk
Every neighbourhood needs a bakery and we are in luck cause we have the best. Brikk is a super nice place to recharge after a long day or fuel up before the adventures ahead. They make superb sourdough breads and pestos and salads to go with the bread. Soup is served at lunch time and they have a very nice brand of beer called Boli. Great coffee with oat milk option. I have saved the bast for last and that is their pastry, if you are on a diet than don´t go in here there is no way to resist the temptation:)

Austur Indíafélagið
You might be tired of people always trying to make you eat something traditional or maybe Indian food is your favourite and you decide to give this place a try. If you do you won´t regret it, I have eaten at a lot of Indian places around the world including in India and this place compares well beyond expectations. The Hariyali salmon is another worldy experience.

Héðinn
Picture a comfortable sofa and a nice drink after a long day here is a perfect place to rewind. They have very good selections on vine and a very comfortable atmosphere. The restaurant is top notch with highest quality ingredients. Treat your self. Inside the same area they have opened a bakery so you could basically stay here all day.

Forréttabarinn
This place has it all. This is the local bar that serves the best beer called Kaldi. On one side you have a comfortable bar where they also serve food and on the other side you have a nice restaurant. They are fairly priced and have excellent vegetarian options as well. Locals like to gather here and I highly recommend it.
